This research project aimed to documenting painted shelters and their archaeological contexts in an area of the Andes where they were not yet known.

Two campaigns already carried out and a third about to take place, have opened new doors to the knowledge of the painted symbols in the Ancash Valley, to the capacity of interaction of the people who inhabited them in the past, to their technical mastery and to the antiquity in the use and persistence of these sites.
